Patna, September 13, 2025: The 71st Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination conducted by BPSC was held across the state on Saturday in a fair and peaceful manner.
The examination, a key gateway to Bihar’s administrative services, witnessed participation from lakhs of aspirants.
According to official data, a total of 4.71 lakh candidates had applied for the exam, out of which around 3.57 lakh downloaded their admit cards.
However, the actual turnout stood at 64.3% indicating that nearly one-third of the registered candidates did not appear.
BPSC’s security and transparency measures:
BPSC has put in place strict security arrangements to ensure a malpractice-free exam.
Police forces were deployed inside and outside examination centres.

Modern techniques like biometric attendance, video graphy, and installation of mobile jammers were used to prevent impersonation and the use of electronic devices.
Candidate reactions:
After the exam, many candidates described the paper as balanced and of medium difficulty.
Questions were asked from subjects including general studies, history, geography, political science, physics, chemistry and current affairs.
While some found the paper straightforward, others said a few questions were analytical and challenging.
BPSC Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh clarified that reports of biometric attendance not being completed at some centres would not affect candidates’ participation.
Biometrics is only an additional arrangement for convenience. Physical attendance marked on admit cards will be considered valid,” he said.
The evaluation of answer sheets will now take place, after which the preliminary exam results will be declared.
Successful candidates will proceed to the main examination, followed by an interview round.
The final merit list will be released only after the entire process concludes.
