Patna, May 7, 2024: Voting is underway across five Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar—Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, and Khagaria—in the third phase of the General Elections on Tuesday.
Voting underway in four Lok Sabha constituencies:
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the state recorded an overall voter turnout of 10.78% till 9 am.
Among the five constituencies, Supaul registered the highest polling percentage at 11.41%, followed by Araria (10.41%), Madhepura (10.71%), and Jhanjharpur and Khagaria (10.41% each).
Long queues were seen at several polling stations, with many first-time voters and elderly citizens turning out early to cast their votes.
In Supaul, BJP national spokesperson and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain exercised his franchise at the polling booth located at the Executive Officer’s office.
Speaking to reporters after polling, Hussain said, “I cast my vote in the morning without taking breakfast. For me, it’s always ‘first voting, then breakfast.’ This election will make India a superpower and the world’s third-largest economy. I appeal to everyone to step out of their homes and vote for the country.”
