Patna, September 18, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national President Nitin Nabin on Friday expressed concern over the severe flood situation in Bihar, highlighting the relief and rescue measures being undertaken by the state government, assistance from the Centre and his personal contribution to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Nabin said the flood situation was being continuously monitored and that the government was working to ensure timely relief and necessary assistance reached affected families.

As part of his contribution, Nitin Nabin donated Rs 6.35 lakh, equivalent to three months of his salary as a Rajya Sabha MP, to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Nitin Nabin highlighted the state government’s relief measures:

He said the state government had provided more than Rs 550 crore in financial assistance to flood-affected families, with Rs 7,000 being provided per affected family.

According to Nabin, relief camps, community kitchens, medical facilities and arrangements for livestock fodder have been established in affected areas.

Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have also deployed for rescue operations.

The assessment of crop damage is underway to determine the assistance required by affected farmers, he said.

Around 50 lakh people affected:

Nitin Nabin said the severe floods had affected around 50 lakh people across 88 blocks in 15 districts of Bihar this year.

He also highlighted the state government’s relief efforts, saying food had been provided to around 1.62 crore people through more than 1,000 community kitchens.

Referring to assistance from the Centre, Nabin sain Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, had visited flood-affected areas, met affected families and reviewed the status of relief and rescue operations.

“We all stand in full commitment with the flood-affected families of Bihar,” Nabin said, reiterating his commitment to supporting those affected by the floods.
