Gurugram, July 25, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting in Gurugram to assess measures aimed at controlling air pollution and improving air quality across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the state’s comprehensive air pollution action plan, with officials directed to complete all signed tasks within stipulated timelines.
Haryana Forest, Environment and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh also attended the meeting.
Nayab Singh Saini reviews a comprehensive pollution control plan:
The meeting included a detailed review of several key initiatives, including expansion of the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS), promotion of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric buses, action against end-of-life and pollution vehicles, implementation of the “No PUCC-No Fuel” policy, scientific management of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) disposal, action against polluting industries, and prevention of biomass burning and effective management of paddy stubble.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed all departments to ensure timely implementation of every component of the action plan, stressing that there should be no delays in expanding air quality monitoring infrastructure, increasing the fleet of electric buses, developing EV charging infrastructure, increasing the fleet of electric buses, developing EV Charging infrastructure, enforcing vehicle pollution norms, or implementing the “No PUCC-No Fuel” policy.
He also instructed officials to regularly monitor traffic congestion hotspots, road redevelopment projects, and pollution-control measures across the NCR region.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav emphasized the need for stronger coordination between the Central and Haryana governments to achieve sustained improvements in air quality across the NCR.
He directed officials to intensify action against polluting industries, strengthen scientific management of Construction and Demolition waste, improve municipal solid waste disposal, prevent biomass burning, and ensure effective management of paddy stubble.
The Union Minister stated that continuous monitoring and regular review of every component of the action plan would be essential to achieving meaningful improvements in air quality.
Green development at major traffic intersections:
Bhupender Yadav instructed officials to undertake extensive greening at major intersections in key NCR districts, including Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipat.
He directed departments to ensure regular deep cleaning at major traffic junctions, fill roadside potholes and open spaces with soil, and develop these areas through grass cover and plantation drives to reduce dust emissions and lower PM-10 pollution levels.
Officials were instructed to identify all such locations and prepare a detailed action plan within one month.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also directed that other major traffic intersections across Haryana’s NCR region be developed on the lines of Rajiv Chowk in Gurugram, stating that the ongoing monsoon season provides an ideal opportunity to expand green cover through large-scale plantation drives.
Push for electric vehicle infrastructure:
Nayab Singh Saini instructed officials to significantly expand the network of EV charging stations across Haryana’s NCR districts.
He emphasized establishing charging facilities at strategic locations, particularly along the National Highway passing through Karnal, to facilitate uninterrupted movement of electric vehicles and electric buses operating between Chandigarh and Delhi.
According to the Chief Minister, strengthening charging infrastructure will play a vital role in promoting clean and sustainable transportation across the state.
Nayab Singh Saini also informed the meeting that the Haryana government is expected to introduce a new Electric Vehicle Policy in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
The proposed policy aims to provide incentives for electric vehicle adoption and further strengthen environmental conservation efforts throughout Haryana, particularly in the NCR region.
