Gurugram, May 11, 2026: Marking 75 years of the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) of the sacred Somnath temple, a district-level ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ was held with great reverence at the Shri Shiv Temple in Inchhapuri.
The event aimed to connect the younger generation with Indian culture and Sanatan traditions, drawing a large gathering of devotees.
Grand beginning of Somnath Swabhiman Parv with Kalash Yatra:
The event began with a magnificent Kalash Yatra, where women dressed in traditional attire participated enthusiastically, symbolizing deep faith and devotion toward Lord Shiva.
This was followed by cultural and religious performances by school students, delivering messages rooted in Indian heritage and spiritual values.

Devotees also witnessed live broadcasts of speeches by PM Narendra Modi from the national event at Somnath and Nayab Singh Saini from Kurukshetra.
The gathering listened with enthusiasm as both leaders highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and strengthening national identity.
Dignitaries grace the occasion:
The Somnath Swabhiman Parv was attended by several prominent leaders, including Pataudi MLA Chaudhary (Chief Guest), Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma and Ajit Yadav.
Addressing the event, Bimla Chaudhary emphasized that Somnath is not just a temple but a symbol of India’s eternal faith, self-respect, and cultural consciousness.
She highlighted how repeated reconstructions of the temple reflect the resilience of Sanatan traditions, recalling the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in its post-independence restoration.

She added that Haryana continues to uphold India’s cultural and spiritual legacy, with ongoing efforts to preserve heritage sites.
Mukesh Sharma noted that the history of Somnath inspires unity, faith, and confidence, especially in times when cultural identity faces challenges.
He stressed the need to connect youth with traditions to strengthen societal values.
Ajit Yadav described the festival as a symbol of cultural resurgence and national pride, aimed at promoting spirituality and heritage awareness.
Temple resonates with devotion during the Somnath Swabhiman Parv:
The entire temple premises echoed with chants of “Jai Shiv,’ creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.
Cultural highlights included Saraswati Vandana by Mother’s Pride School students, Shiv Tandav performances by Good Luck Public School, folk dances by Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Pataudi, and Shiv Leela presentations by students from Arjun Nagar, Gurugram.
These performances were widely appreciated by the devotees.

A special exhibition depicting the 1,000-year history of Somnath Temple was organized by the Haryana Information & Public Relations Department in Collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.
It offered insights into the temple’s historical journey, its reconstruction phases, and its cultural and spiritual significance.
Visitors gained a deeper understanding of India’s Sanatan heritage and national pride through this initiative.
The event concluded with a strong message: such celebrations not only preserve India’s cultural identity but also foster unity, brotherhood, and patriotism, especially among the younger generation.
