Patna, May 9, 2026: Bihar’s newly appointed Health Minister Nishant Kumar met Bhojpuri film actress Akshara Singh on Saturday in what both described as a courtesy visit, but one that also touched on broader issues related to the state’s development and cultural growth.

Nishant Kumar shared pictures from the meeting on his social media handles, referring to Akshara Singh as “Bihar’s daughter” and a prominent face of Bhojpuri cinema.

He noted that their discussion centered on Bihar’s overall progress, including the promotion and production of films in regional languages.

Akshara Singh, speaking to reporters, confirmed the interaction and congratulated Nishant on assuming ministerial office.

She described the meeting as a routine courtesy call but expressed optimism about his leadership and expectations from his role in Bihar’s development.

Akshara Singh congratulated the BJP for its success in West Bengal:

During her interaction with the media, Akshara also referenced the Bharatiya Janata Party’s recent electoral success in West Bengal, congratulating the party on what she termed a significant victory after a long gap.

Her remark added a subtle political undertone to an otherwise cultural and social interaction.

Since taking charge, Nishant Kumar has signaled an active approach to governance.

Notably, he conducted inspections of the Health Department for two consecutive days—even on a Saturday holiday—demonstrating urgency in addressing healthcare challenges.

He reviewed the operation at Patna Medical College and Hospital along with other major hospitals across the state.

Officials were asked to provide a detailed briefing on patient care systems and existing infrastructure.

Emphasizing accessibility and equity in healthcare, Nishant directed authorities to ensure that quality medical services reach economically weaker sections without discrimination.

Minister’s statement:

Following his inspection, Nishant Kumar said he is committed to fulfilling his responsibilities with complete honesty.

Emphasizing his priorities, Nishnat Kumar stated, “I will fulfill my responsibilities with honesty and work to improve the Health Department so that better healthcare services reach everyone—rich or poor, across all sections of society.”

He stressed that improving the efficiency of the Health Department would be a priority, with a focus on delivering better healthcare services to all citizens—irrespective of caste, class, or location.

He further underlined that both rural and urban areas would receive equal attention, with the goal of establishing a more robust and inclusive healthcare system across Bihar.
