CM Nitish Kumar hails the Rs 3.47 lakh crore Bihar budget, calls it a roadmap to a developed state.

Patna, February 3, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday praised the Rs 3.47 lakh crore Bihar budget 2026-27 presented by Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, describing it as a comprehensive and inclusive budget aimed at realizing the vision of a Developed Bihar.

Reacting after the budget was presented in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, CM Nitish Kumar said the budget is rooted in the principle of development with justice and addresses the needs of all sections of society, including farmers, entrepreneurs, youth and women.

“Today, Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27. This budget takes into account all sectors and all sections of society. It is comprehensive, inclusive, and development-oriented,” Kumar said.

Nitish Kumar pointed out the highest-ever budget:

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted that Bihar’s budget has crossed Rs 3.47 lakh crore, which is over Rs 30,000 crore higher than last year’s budget.

He also said that Bihar’s economic growth rate is projected at 14.9 percent for the financial year 2026-27.

“This budget will play a crucial role in accelerating the pace of Bihar’s economic development,” he added.

Nitish Kumar said the budget would help achieve the objectives of the government’s Seven Resolution-3 (2025-2030) program.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing jobs and employment to one crore youth over the next five years, noting that the process has already begun through efficient financial management.

Under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme, a provision has been made to provide Rs 2 lakh in assistance to one woman from each household to promote employment and self-reliance.

“The objective of providing opportunities to every family, skill development for every young person, and employment of women will be fulfilled through this budget,” he said.

Boost to education, health, agriculture and industry:

The Chief Minister said special provisions have been made to further strengthen progress in education, health, agriculture, and industrial development.

He also stressed that with proper management of the state’s resources and continued support from the central government, Bihar’s development would gain momentum.

“In the coming years, Bihar will be able to join the ranks of the most developed states in the country,” Kumar said.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also welcomed the budget, calling it a major step toward a developed Bihar.

“Giving a new impetus to the pace of development, the state budget has reached nearly Rs 3.5 lakh crore. The NDA government has given Bihar a new flight, and development is getting a new identity,” he said.
