48.23% polling registered in the first phase of LS election in Bihar.

Patna April 19: After the first phase of polling over in Bihar, a total of 48.23% votes casted by the voters in the four Lok Sabha constituencies on Friday till 6 pm.

The chief electoral officer of Bihar HR Srinivasa said that this is an approximate figure and the final number has not come yet.

The figure is much lower than 2019 Lok Sabha election when 53.47% voters have used their voting rights.

The officer said that a maximum of 52% polling percentage were registered in Gaya reserved seat while Jamui and Aurangabad registered 50% polling. Only 41.5% polling percentage was registered in Nawada Lok Sabha constituency.

The election commission has used 9549 control units, 9531 ballot units and 10218 VVPATs in these four Lok Sabha constituencies. Among them, the officers have changed 34 control units, 31 ballot units and 152 VVPATs during the mock poll. Besides 22 control units, 22 ballot units and 185 VVPATS were changed after the mock poll.

The election commission has also used a helicopter for the vigilance in Naxal affected areas. An air ambulance was also placed there for the emergency situation.

During the first phase, the voters boycotted the polling at 5 polling stations in Aurangabad and Nawada districts. In Aurangabad, voters have boycotted Aurangabad polling center number 223, Gurua polling center 225 and Tikari polling center 231.

In Nawada, voters boycotted the election in Barbigha polling station 170 and Govindpur polling station number 238.
