Youth Congress halted trains in Patna to protest ED action against Gandhi’s in the National Herald case.

Patna April 18, 2025: Youth Congress workers staged a dramatic protest in Patna on Friday by halting train services near the Secretariat Halt railway station.
The protest was in response to the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) action against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case.
Youth Congress workers climbed on train engine to disrupt railway operation:
Brand shining banners and posters, including ones reading “Gandhi is not afraid of anyone,” demonstrators climbed onto the engine of a stationary train, bringing railway traffic to a standstill.

The agitation led to the closure of a key railway gate, disrupting both train schedules and road traffic.
Commuters and local drivers were seen stranded due to the chaos.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rushed to the site and tried to disperse the Youth Congress protesters, but they remained defiant.
The protest was part of a nationwide outcry by the Congress party, which has labeled the ED’s actions as politically motivated and intended to target opposition leaders ahead of key state elections.
The ED has reportedly begun the process of taking possession of assets worth over Rs. 700 crore belonging to Associated Journals Limited (AJL) the company linked to the National Herald, a newspaper founded in 1938 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as a voice of India’s freedom struggle.
AJL (Associated Journals Limited) also published Navjivan (Hindi) and Qaumi Awaz (Urdu).
Bihar Congress Unit continuously protesting on National Herald case:
Earlier, Bihar State Congress President Rajesh Ram and state in-charge Krishna Allavaru, slammed the ED’s move, pointing out the timing of the charge sheet coming just after Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Gujarat for a two-day convention and ahead of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
“The central government is using investigative agencies to divert attention from its failures on key national issues,” said a senior leader of Youth Congress.
“The ED is being misused to suppress political opponents, particularly with elections on the horizon,” he said.
Earlier, on April 16, senior Congress leaders held another large demonstration at the Income Tax roundabout in Patna, accusing the Centre of pursuing “political vendetta” through misuse of enforcement agencies.
