Patna, August 11, 2025: Facing allegations of possessing two voter ID cards, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Monday said he will submit his reply to the Election Commission (EC).

Speaking to the media persons in Patna, Sinha said, I respect the constitutional institutions of the country and will file my reply before the election commission about the dual EPIC numbers. I am not like Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, who only make a hue and cry. I have great faith in democracy and will answer to the constitutional body. The Election Commission is working transparently.”

Vijay Kumar Sinha’s name is listed in the electoral rolls at serial number 757 in booth number 405 of Patna’s Bakipur Assembly constituency with the EPIC number AFSO853341, and in booth number 231 of Lakhisarai with EPIC number IAF3939337. The two entries also record different ages for him.

Vijay Kumar Sinha criticized opposition’s march towards the EC:

Reacting to the opposition’s march to the EC office in Delhi, Sinha accused rival leaders of political theatrics.

“The opposition is mocking democracy. They want to establish Pariwar Tantra (Dynasty) in Lok Tantra (Democracy). They are the same people who have stolen votes in the past. Now, the EC, through SIR, has stopped its misconduct,” he said.

The EC issued a notice to Vijay Kumar Sinha on Sunday after the dual voter IDs came to light, asking him to respond by August 14.

Tejashwi Yadav is also facing similar charges of Dual EPIC numbers:

The issue of duplicate voter IDs has become a political flashpoint in Bihar, after similar allegations surfaced against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Opposition parties claim such discrepancies are widespread and point to serious flaws in the voter list revision exercise.
