Patna June 19: Passengers of Darbhanga bound SpiceJet flight from Delhi faced a horrible time thanks to an air conditioning failure on board on Wednesday.

The passengers claimed that the AC remained off for an hour on this flight. The passengers were seen suffering from the heat. They were seen fanning the magazines or newspapers on themselves to get relief from the heat. On reaching Darbhanga, the passengers said that there was a lack of oxygen onboard the plane. SpiceJet spokesperson however has denied this.

The passenger going from Delhi to Darbhanga clearly said that the AC was completely off from the time they boarded the plane. After some time it started getting hot. People started fanning themselves with whatever they had in the luggage. Despite repeated complaints, the AC was not turned on. The AC was turned on after 1 hour. The passengers said that this is the biggest negligence of SpiceJet and they will complain to the airline’s administration about it.

“I was traveling from Delhi to Darbhanga by SpiceJet. After boarding the plane at Delhi airport, they did not turn on the air-conditioning for an hour. The temperature inside the flight was more than 40 degrees. The passengers were facing problems. When the flight took off, the air-conditioning (AC) was turned on,” said Rohan Kumar, a passenger.

JDU Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha has also expressed his displeasure towards SpiceJet officials regarding this incident. On social media, he wrote: “@flyspicejet should definitely apologize for the troubles faced by the passengers coming from Delhi to Darbhanga in the scorching heat. It should ensure that this does not happen in the future.”

A SpiceJet spokesperson said that SpiceJet flight SG 476 from Delhi to Darbhanga on June 19, which was scheduled to depart at 11 am, departed on time without any delay. The air conditioning was working normally throughout the flight, which was confirmed and cross-checked on arrival at Darbhanga. During boarding in Delhi, a slight inefficiency in the air conditioning was experienced due to bad weather conditions and both the doors of the aircraft being open. The doors were closed immediately after boarding was completed. Thereafter, the cooling started working normally.”
