Patna July 11: Twenty 24 persons lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the last 24 hours in Bihar.

Among them, 3 persons died in Rohtas, 2 in Nalanda, 2 in Lakhisarai, 2 in Jehanabad, 2 in Kaimur, 2 in Masaurhi, 2 in Naubatpur, 1 in Supaul, 1 in Khagaria, 1 in Chhapra, 1 in Munger, 1 in West Champaran, 1 in Ara, 1 in Paliganj, 1 in Kaimur and 1 in Banka districts. During the monsoon session, over 60 persons lost their lives in July this year. 

The situation in Bihar is becoming increasingly perilous due to the combination of severe weather conditions and natural disasters.

Natural Calamity in the districts.

Ram Pravesh Singh, a 55-year-old farmer from Bihar, died instantly after being struck by lightning while seeking shelter under a blackberry tree in Rohtas’s Nokha block on Wednesday evening.

A young woman in Karaundi village, Natwar block, also lost her life due to lightning.

In Sanjhauli Mathia village, Karakat block, a farmer succumbed to a lightning strike.

A 5-year-old girl died while picking mangoes during a storm in Odakpur village, Siwan.

A laborer from Malda district, West Bengal, was planting paddy in Nikhati Kala village, Siwan, when he was struck by lightning.

Another individual died due to lightning in the Mohaniya subdivision, Kaimur,

A farmer Suresh Yadav was killed, and another person, Suman Ram, was severely injured while plowing in Fulwaria village under the Lauriya police station area in West Champaran district. The injured is receiving treatment in GMCH Bettiah.

a farmer lost his life due to lightning in Dharmapatti village, Raghopur police station area, Supaul.

A woman died from a lightning strike In Lagma village, Asarganj police station area in Munger.

A person named Janardan Mandal of Salempur Puranchak village under Amarpur police station in Banka district also died due to lightning.

Authorities are taking necessary actions, including post-mortem examinations and providing medical treatment to the injured.

Advisory to the people.

The officials of the met department asked the people to follow the guidelines issued by the disaster management authorities to ensure safety. The people have been asked to stay under concrete houses during the rain, avoid going into agricultural fields or taking shelter under trees and stay away from electric poles.

According to an official of the met department, Katihar, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani and Darbhanga districts would experience moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorm and lighting in the regions. The wind speed at that time will be 30 to 40 kmph. The residents have been asked to stay alert during the rain. The residents of North Bihar are facing the double threat of lightning strikes and floods in the region.

Chief Minister expressed condolences.

CM Nitish Kumar has expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased.

The Chief Minister has directed district officials to provide compensation of Rs 4 lakh to each of the affected families. He assured the affected families of his support during this difficult time.

He urged the public to remain vigilant during adverse weather conditions.

Earlier on July 1, 2 people died in Aurangabad, 1 in Buxar, 1 in Bhojpur, 1 in Rohtas, 1 in Bhagalpur and 1 in Darbhanga.

On July 3, 1 person died in Bhagalpur, 1 in East Champaran, 1 in Darbhanga and 1 in Nawada.

On July 6, 3 people died in Jahanabad, 2 in Madhepura, 1 in East Champaran, 1 in Rohtas, 1 in Saran and 1 in Supaul.

On July 7, 5 persons died in Kaimur, 3 in Nawada, 2 in Rohtas, and one each in Aurangabad, Jamui and Saharsa districts.
