Patna, August 4, 2025: The much-anticipated “Vote Adhikar Yatra” by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has been postponed until further notice.
The announcement came through Letter No. 168, dated August 4, from the state office of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The official statement reads, ‘Due to unavoidable reasons, the date of the earlier announced Vote Adhikar Yatra stands changed. The earlier announcement should be considered canceled. The new dates will be shared in due course.”
Reason behind postponement of Vote Adhikar Yatra:
A source within the Mahagathbandhan alliance confirmed that the decision was taken following the death of a former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, whose identity has not yet been officially revealed.

The mourning period and political sensitivities around the event prompted the deferral.
Vote Adhikar Yatra’s political significance:
Originally scheduled to begin after Raksha Bandhan on August 1 from Sasaram in Rohtas district, the Yatra was set to conclude on August 19 at Narpatganj in Araria district.
The Vote Adhikar Yatra was seen as a direct response to the controversy around the Special Intensive Revision(SIR) and voter list deletions.
A launchpad for Mahagathbandhan’s Bihar election campaign.
A grassroots mobilization tour designed to corner the Modi government at the Centre and the Nitish Kumar-led NDA in Bihar on issues like unemployment, inflation, caste census, and electoral fairness.
Both Congress and RJD had been preparing intensively, and party workers had been mobilized across districts.
Ticket aspirants were lining up to showcase their strength during the Yatra. Local committees were in the final stages of logistics planning, including road shows, street corner meetings, and public rallies.

The postponement Vote Adhikar Yatra has paused these momentum-building activities, though sources indicate that the new dates may be announced shortly, potentially within the next 10-15 days, depending on prevailing circumstances.
While the Vote Adhikar Yatra is delayed, the underlying political message remains intact.
Congress and RJD insiders say that the tour is central to building an anti-NDA narrative and highlighting alleged voter suppression, youth joblessness, and social justice gaps under the current regime.
