Patna, April 24, 2024: A major tragedy was averted at Patna Airport, on Tuesday evening after technical staff detected a fuel leakage in the left engine of an Indigo flight bound to Kolkata (Flight Number 6E0342) just before take-off.
Technical glitch detected in the Indigo flight during boarding:
At the time of detection, boarding had already begun, and many of the 181 passengers were seated.
Airline staff immediately halted the operation, debearded all passengers, and shifted them to the terminal building.
The unexpected delay triggered protests and chaos inside the terminal as many passengers demanded an alternative flight.
Passengers accommodated in three other flights:
Airline officials eventually pacified the crowd by assuring swift arrangements.
Eight passengers were accommodated on the Ahmedabad-bound flight, while 15 were shifted to a Delhi-bound flight to meet their onward connections to Bangalore and Mumbai.
The remaining 158 passengers were flown to Kolkata on a special replacement aircraft, which finally departed at 12.17 AM on Wednesday.
Airport officials praised the quick action of the technical staff, which prevented a potential disaster.
