
Patna November 25, 2024: The winter session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly will begin today at 11 am, with the expectation of a lively and challenging atmosphere.
The opposition, led by Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, is set to scrutinize the government on several key issues, including the implementation of smart meters and concerns over law and order.
In contrast, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) buoyed by-elections, is prepared to address and counter the opposition’s queries.
The session is structured to cover a range of legislative activities within its brief five-day duration.
The winter session will begin with the speaker’s speech:
On the opening day, after the address by Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, the newly elected members will take their oaths.
Subsequently, the government will present the certified copies of ordinances promulgated by the Governor and introduce the second supplementary budget for discussion and approval.
Additionally, a condolence motion will be presented in the House to honour the memories of the Late Ratan Tata, Folk Singer Sharda Sinha and other prominent personalities who recently passed away.
Important bills will be passed on November 26 and 27 of the winter session:
The subsequent days are slated for detailed discussions and legislative work.
On November 26 and 27, the assembly will focus on state matters and address various issues raised by members.
The second supplementary budget is scheduled for discussion and passage on November 28. The final day, November 29, will feature a discussion on a non-official resolution, allowing members to raise matters of public importance.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the session, Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav held meetings with top officials a couple of days ago and sought cooperation from members of all parties.
Tight security arrangements during the winter session of the Bihar assembly:
Strict security arrangements have been implemented, with a significant deployment of police forces in and around the Assembly premises.
The recent by-election results have added a layer of enthusiasm to the proceedings. The NDA secured victories in all four contested seats: the BJP won in Ramgarh and Tarari, the JD9U) in Belaganj and HAMS in Imamganj.
These wins have bolstered the NDA’s confidence as it prepares to address the legislative agenda during this session.
