Tejashwi Yadav brought the list of 14 persons having higher number of siblings or children.

Patna, April 22, 2024: After Nitish Kumar’s too many children jibe, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, hit back sharply in the Assembly, bringing a list of prominent national figures who either had many siblings or children, and accused the CM of being influenced by people around him to make such remarks.

Tejashwi Yadav counters with historical and political examples:

Presenting data in the house, Tejashwi Yadav highlighted that PM Narendra Modi has 6 siblings, while CM Nitish Kumar himself has 5. Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Patna Sahib MP, has 7 siblings.

Dr. B. R Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, was the youngest among 14 siblings. Subhas Chandra Bose, the great freedom fighter, too had 14 siblings.

Former President CC Giri, the Bharat Ratna recipient, had 14 children.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former PM, had 7 siblings. Damodar Das Modi (PM Modi’s father) had 7 siblings, while Modi’s uncle Narsingh Das had 8 children.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is the youngest among 7 siblings, while K Chandrashekhar Rao, former Telangana CM, had 10 siblings.

Ravindra Nath Tagore had 7 siblings, former PM H.D. Deve Gowda had 6 children and PM Narsimha Rao had 8 children.

Tejashwi Yadav’s jibe at Nitish:

“Nitish Kumar is a respected person to me. He cannot say anything about it. Some people surrounding him are asking him to say such things,” he remarked, stressing that having many children or siblings has historically never been a measure of one’s greatness or failure.

By citing leaders, writers, and statesmen with large families, Tejashwi sought to turn Nitish Kumar’s comment into a political setback, while also signaling that such remarks may alienate sections of society ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
