Strong man Ashok Mahto claimed his wife will defeat Lalan Singh in the battle of Munger in LS poll.

Patna: Convicted strong man Ashok Mahto said that his wife Anita Devi will defeat former national president of JD-U Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh in Munger in the Lok Sabha election 2024.

Anita Devi and Lalan Singh are contesting against each other in Munger Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar.

While interacting with the media persons in Munger, Mahto said: “My wife will defeat Lalan Singh with the margin of more than 3 lakh votes in Munger Lok Sabha constituency. Our leader Lalu Prasad Yadav blessed us and we are ready to contest against Lalan Singh.”

“Lalan Singh is purchasing the votes and we are contesting the election by raising donations from the public. We are not preparing for the election, it is the people of Munger who are preparing to defeat the JD-U candidate. I am not a strong man. I always fight for the poor,” he said.

Ashok Mahto, a convicted person in murder case, came on bail in 2023. He stayed in jail for 17 years. He got married at the age of 62 a few days ago with the motive to launch his wife in a poll fray of 2024.

Ashok Mahto was facing the charges of Nawada jail break, Manikpur massacres in Sheikhpura district, MP Rajo Singh murder and these cases are currently underway in courts. A web series called “Khakee, the Bihar chapter” also released on OTT platform Netflix. In that web series, the main character in a negative role was inspired from the life of Ashok Mahto.

When asked about why you did the marriage in a non marriage session (Kharmas), Ashok Mahto said that he is a convicted person and cannot contest the election. Hence, he did the marriage.

“As I am a convicted person and cannot fight against the legal system, I did the marriage to launch my wife in a poll fray. I always fight for social justice in Bihar,” Mahto said.

“There is a wave in favour of RJD and Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar. Our alliance will win all 40 seats of Bihar and NDA will lose here,” he said.
