Patna July 21: Shankar Singh, the newly elected MLA from Rupauli, has decided to support Nitish Kumar-led JD (U) in Bihar on Sunday.

Shankar Singh decided to Support JD (U): While interacting with the media persons in Patna, he appreciated the development works carried out by CM Nitish Kumar for the last 19 years in Bihar.

“I have decided not to join any political party in Bihar but will support the Nitish Kumar and NDA government in the state. I will meet the Bihar chief minister and urge him for the development of my constituency,” Singh said.

Shankar Singh, the independent candidate won the Rupauli assembly seat by defeating Kaladhar Mandal of JD (U) with a margin of 8211 votes during the bye-poll held on July 10 this year. Since then, there has a speculation that he might join or support JD (U).

Besides Nitish Kumar, he intends to meet every minister of the Bihar government to urge them for the completion of ongoing or pending projects in Rupauli.

“I have been working in the field of education and health in Rupauli and I am expecting the same commitment from the ministers of the Bihar government for my constituency,” Singh said.

Will take oath in Monsoon session: The monsoon session of the Bihar assembly will start from July 22 and Shankar Singh will take oath as a member of the legislative assembly on Monday.

Strength of NDA will increase more in Bihar: His support will bolster the strength of JD (U) in the Bihar assembly which currently has 47 MLAs in the state. The total strength of NDA in the Bihar assembly is 133 including BJP 82, JD (U) 47, HAMS 3 and one independent MLA.
