New Delhi, July 11, 2024: A Saudi Airlines flight from Riyadh caught fire upon landing at Pakistan’s Peshawar Airport on Thursday, according to an official.
The airline’s statement detailed that flight SV792 experienced smoke emanating from one of its tires during the landing at Peshawar International Airport.
Saudi Airlines official statement:
CAA spokesperson Saifullah stated that air traffic controllers observed smoke and sparks from the left-hand side landing gear and immediately alerted the pilots and airport fire and rescue services.
Fire vehicles at the airport successfully extinguished the flames engulfing the landing gear.
Saifullah noted, “The fire tenders acted swiftly and effectively to contain the fire in the landing gear, preventing a potentially serious incident.”
All passengers safe:
All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated using an inflatable slide. Peshawar airport officials have confirmed that the airport is operational, and all flights are proceeding as scheduled.
