Patna, October 4, 2025: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly election, Sanjay Jha, the JDU working president, demanded during the meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar that elections in Bihar be conducted in a single phase.

While explaining his views, Sanjay Jha said, “Law and order are no longer an issue in Bihar. If Maharashtra can have a one-phase election, why not Bihar? We want polling in one phase, with paramilitary force deployment at all booths to ensure the poor face no difficulties in voting.”

Sanjay Jha requested CEC to a avoid clash of polling date with the Chhath festival:

Sanjay Jha also requested that the election dates not clash with the Chhath festival so that migrant voters returning home can participate.

On the other hand, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), represented by Aurangabad MP Abhay Kushwaha and election convener Chittranjan Gagan, favoured two-phase polling.

Kushwaha also demanded the release of data on 3.64 lakh deleted votes during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

“We have also requested complete security arrangements in Dalit, Mahadalit, EBC, and OBC villages so that voters from these communities can cast their votes without fear,” he said.

Abhay Kushwaha quipped BJP over the Burqa remark:

Reacting to the BJP’s earlier demand that women in burqas be verified by female officers, Kushwaha said, “A new voter list with photographs has already been published after the SIR. Despite that, if the BJP is still demanding such things, then it is only politics.

The meeting, described as one of the final consultations before the poll dates are announced, saw all major parties, including AAP, BJP, BSP, RJD, JDU, CPI-ML, CPI, CPIM, LJPRV, RLJP, and others, place their demands ranging from tighter security to voter confidence measures.
