Patna, October 22, 2025: In a dramatic turn of events ahead of the Bihar Assembly election 2025, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav announced support for independent candidate Ravi Shankar Paswan from Mohania Assembly constituency in Kaimur district.
Paswan, son of former MP Chedi Paswan, met the RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and expressed gratitude to the party for extending its support.

This decision follows the cancellation of the nomination of RJD candidate Shweta Suman, triggering a political upheaval in the constituency.
RJD spokesperson Chittranjan Gagan explained that the support shift came after Suman’s nomination was nullified due to allegations of not being a Bihar resident, a requirement for contesting elections from a reserved seat in the state.
Suman accused the BJP candidate Sangeeta Kumari of orchestrating a conspiracy to cancel her nomination.
BJP candidate filed complaints against RJD and Jan Suraj candidates:
The BJP candidate had filed a complaint with the poll body against both Shweta Suman and Geeta Devi alias Geeta Pasi, alleging both were domiciled in Uttar Pradesh.
After the verification process, Shweta Suman’s nomination was cancelled due to discrepancies in her documents.
Geeta Devi’s nomination was accepted, as her documents were found valid.
Geeta Devi accused the current MLA, Sangeeta Kumari, of attempting to manipulate the process through paperwork rather than facing voters directly.
She asserted that the public would ultimately decide the outcome at the polls.
This development has intensified the political dynamics in Mohania.
Analysts suggest that the Mohania constituency is set to become a high-stakes battleground in the Bihar elections.
