Patna, March 30, 2024: Senior RJD leader and party’s vice president Shivanand Tiwari on Saturday came out in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his anger over the freezing of Congress’s bank accounts by the Income Tax department is justified.

“Anyone can understand the uneasiness of Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders,” Tiwari said.

“The Income Tax department has not only frozen more than a dozen bank accounts of the party but also withdrawn crores of rupees without the permission of account holders. With nominations for the Lok Sabha elections already underway, their concern is natural.”

Sivanad Tiwari justified Rahul Gandhi’s anger:

Shivanand Tiwari referred to Rahul Gandhi’s sharp remarks against the Income Tax department officials.

Rahul Gandhi has warned them that when this government changes, he will not leave anyone. He probably hasn’t noticed that the Britishers built the entire administrative structure to maintain their rule. The officials of such structures still consider it their duty to suppress voices raised against the king. Members of the electoral body, too, come from the same background, though T.N. Seshan was an exception,” Tiwari said.

Congress must take it to the people:

Shivanand Tiwari questioned why the Congress has not made this a poll issue.

“What is the option Congress has? Will it go before the people and highlight this injustice? The condition of courts is not encouraging at present. The Narendra Modi government has openly paralyzed the Congress. Why is Rahul Gandhi not taking this before the people in the Lok Sabha polls?” Tiwari asked.

Calling for a united front, Shivanand Tiwari said, “I firmly believe that giving suggestions is easy, but implementation is tough. Still, Congress is a big party, and a section of people outside the party also want to save democracy. If everyone gets united and prepares one policy, they still have a chance to save the country.
