PM Narendra Modi Inaugurated Rs 13480 crore development projects in Bihar on the Panchayati Raj Day celebration.

Patna April 24, 2025:On the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Madhubani in Bihar’s Mithila region, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of development projects spanning infrastructure, rural housing, digital governance, women’s empowerment, and the steel industry.
PM Modi opened his address with a moment of silence for the victims of the recent Pahalgam incident, expressing solidarity with grieving families.
He also paid tribute to national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, whose death anniversary coincided with the event.
PM Narendra Modi vows village transformation:
Emphasizing the importance of village self-governance, PM Modi reflected on Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of strong villages being key to India’s progress.
PM Narendra Modi said 1.5 lakh families in Bihar received new pucca houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, approval letters for new homes were given to 15 lakh poor families across India including 3.5 lakh from Bihar, 10 lakh families received financial assistance including 80,000 rural and 1 lakh urban families from Bihar.
“Houses, roads, gas, water and toilets have reached the villages. This modern infrastructure is the bedrock of a developed India,” Modi said.
He pointed out digital governance in Panchayats and said over 2 lakh Gram Panchayats are connected to the internet. 5.5 lakh Common Service Centers built in rural India. 30,000 new Panchayat buildings were constructed nationwide.
“Now essential documents like birth and land certificates can be easily accessed, empowering rural citizens digitally,” he noted.
Strengthening Panchayats & Women’s Empowerment:
He said that Rs. 2 lakh crore was allocated to Panchayats over 10 years for village development. He praised Bihar for pioneering 50% reservation for women in Panchayats.
He also lauded Bihar’s Jeevika Didi program, which received Rs. 1,000 crore in assistance for self-help groups.
“This is true social justice Dalit, Mahadalit, backward, and extremely backward women are now public representatives,” he said.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for inaugurated projects in Rail connectivity including multiple news lines and Amrit Bharat and NaMo Bharat express trains.
PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the LPG bottling plant at Hatua block in Gopalganj district, a project worth Rs 340 crore to enhance bulk LPG transportation and streamline the supply chain.
He also inaugurated projects related to the power sector worth Rs 1,170 crore in new projects and Rs 5,030 crore worth of power infrastructure under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
PM Narendra Modi also flagged off new trains including the Amrit Bharat Express between Saharsa and Mumbai, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Jaynagar and Patna, and regional connections between Pipra, Saharsa and Samastipur,
Supaul-Pipra and Hasanpur- Bithan rail lines and Rail Over bridges in Chappra and Bagaha and also dedicated the Khagaria-Alauli rail lime to the nation.
PM Modi hailed the cultural and economic value of Makhana an aquatic crop native to Mithila.
“Makhana, a key crop of Mithila,
Received a GI-Tag and national-level Makhana Research Center.
A dedicated Makhana Research Center. A dedicated Makhana Board to enhance cultivation and exports. We’re turning Mithila’s culture into its prosperity. Makhana will now shine globally,” said PM Modi.
Strategic Shift towards Indigenous High-Grade Steels:
PM Modi previewed India Steel 2025, a two-day summit focused on strengthening India’s strategic and high-grade steel production, especially for defense and aerospace.
“India was once dependent on imported steel. Today, the steel used in our first indigenous aircraft carrier is made in India. Our Chandrayaan mission too rode on the strength of Indian steel,” he said proudly.
“Indian now has both capability and confidence. The steel sector will be the spine of a developed India,” Modi declared.
