Patna May 3:

Bhojpuri film power star Pawan Singh said he was not born in Pakistan. He is a son of Bihar and no one would stop him from contesting the Lok Sabha election from Karakat on Friday.

Such a sharp reaction of Bhojpuri stars came after BJP candidate Arrah RK Singh suggested that he step back from Karakat. While interacting with the media persons on May 1, he also said that many leaders like him believe that BJP should expel Pawan Singh from the party if he contests the election from Karakat.

“There was no voice from any corner of India regarding my contesting from Karakat Lok Sabha seat, but I saw an interview of RK Singh and seeing the mood in which he was speaking about me, I felt as if Pawan was born in Pakistan and have come to Karakat to contest elections,” Pawan Singh said in a video statement on Friday.

“I am a son of Bihar and the people of Karakat accepted me as a son. Now I will not say anything further. Our people are intelligent,” he said.

RK Singh also said the NDA candidate in Karakat is Upendra Kushwaha. If he wins the election, he will strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Whoever will contest against Upendra Kushwaha will be his opponent. He would be against the BJP and PM Narendra Modi.

After the appearance of Pawan Singh in Karakat, the contest has turned triangular here. BJP has given this seat to Rashtriya Lok Morcha and its national president Upendra Kushwaha is contesting here in Karakat. In a grand alliance, the seat went to CPI-ML and the party gave the ticket to Rajaram Singh. These two are considered Kushwaha leaders in the region.

Pawan Singh belongs to an upper-caste family and a native of the Bhojpur district. His presence may hurt the NDA candidate. The Bhojpuri star may cut its vote bank of NDA.

Earlier, the BJP had given the ticket to Pawan Singh to contest the election from Asansol in West Bengal but the actor refused. He was expecting the seat of Arrah, Karakat or Buxar. As the BJP did not give the ticket in any of the constituencies of Bihar, he decided to contest as an independent candidate from Karakat.

The polling in the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency will be scheduled in the seventh phase on June 1.
