Patna, June 11, 2024: Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias on Tuesday announced that he will file a defamation suit against a local furniture trader who recently filed an extortion case against him. Calling the allegations “false” and “politically motivated.” Yadav claimed a “deep conspiracy” was behind the complaint.

Yadav said the businessman who accused him is a “controversial person” with a history of disputes.

“The person who filed the extortion case is a big liar. He has taken money from many people and abuses them under the influence of alcohol when they demand it back,” Yadav alleged. “He has filed false cases earlier too. I demand a thorough investigation.”

The MP linked the timing of the allegations to his recent political engagements in New Delhi.

Pappu Yadav met Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge:

“I met Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday. Immediately after that, such allegations were made. It clearly shows a conspiracy,” he said.

Yadav added that he has spoken to his lawyers and will soon file a defamation case.

“I want the entire matter investigated by a Supreme Court judge. I will file a defamation case against the furniture trader for making false accusations.”

He also questioned the actions of the Purnea police.

“It is hard to believe the police registered an FIR based on the complaint of such a person. They even uploaded press releases on social media. This shows the conspiracy at work,” Yadav said.

Background of the case:

A Purnea-based furniture businessman lodged an FIR on Monday at Mufassil police station, accusing Pappu Yadav and his aide Amit Yadav of demanding extortion since 2021. The businessman alleged that after winning the election, the MP and his associate threatened him, saying:

“If you do not pay one crore rupees, you will have to leave Purnea.” Following the complaint, Purnea Police registered an FIR and formed a special team to investigate.

Responding to the allegations, Pappu Yadav posted on his official X handle late Monday.

“People upset with my growing influence in politics and the affection of the common people have hatched a disgusting conspiracy in Purnea.”
