Patna, October 6, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday transferred Rs 10,000 each to 21 lakh women beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at an event organized at his residence, 1 Anne Marg.

This marks the third installment of the scheme, with a total of 1.21 crore women having received the assistance so far.

On October 3, Bihar’s CM had similarly transferred Rs 10,000 each to 25 lakh women, raising the number of beneficiaries to 1 crore.

Earlier, on September 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the scheme with transfers to 75 lakh women.

The scheme, announced on August 29, was implemented within a month and is being projected as one of the biggest women empowerment initiatives of the Nitish Kumar government ahead of the Assembly elections.

Nitish Kumar mentioned past women empowerment projects:

Addressing the program, Nitish Kumar said the state government would provide up to Rs 2 lakh to women whose businesses run successfully.

“With this micro-level investment, the scheme will benefit entire families,” he said.

Nitish Kumar also highlighted past initiatives for women’s empowerment, including 50% reservation in the Panchayati Raj Institutions (2005), 50% reservation in the urban local bodies (2007) and 35% reservation in government jobs (This Year).

He also pointed out the rise of 1.40 crore Jeevika Didis under the self-help-group network.

Energy Department projects:

Alongside the DBT transfer, Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 264 projects of the Energy Department worth Rs 5,847.66 crore, including the establishment of power substations, transformer installations and the replacement of electric wires across Bihar.

During the event, Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, and several other senior bureaucrats were present.
