Patna, August 7, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed the Education Department to provide relief to government school teachers seeking transfer closer to their home districts.

Regarding numerous complaints and suggestions regarding the recent teacher transfer, the Chief Minister instructed the department to allow teachers to choose three preferred districts, ensuring that postings are made accordingly.

Nitish Kumar said teachers have an important role to nurture the future generation:

Teachers are very important for the future of our children. My humble request is that they should not worry and continue working diligently,” said Kumar.

Nitish Kumar added that intra-district posting will be handled by a committee led by the District Magistrate (DM), with the aim of placing teachers in their desired or nearby blocks.

In response, the Education Department has set strict timelines to resolve grievances.

A circular issued by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. S. Siddharth mandates that all teacher complaints must be reviewed by August 31 and necessary actions completed by September 10. Key Highlights of the instructions:

Teachers seeking inter-district transfers must choose three districts for preferred deployment.

Intra-district transfer complaints will be addressed by the District’s Establishment Committee, headed by the DM.

Inter-district transfer complaints will be reviewed by the same committee and forwarded with recommendations to the Director of Primary Education.

Complaints must be registered on the e-Shikshakosh portal.

This move is expected to benefit thousands of teachers across Bihar who had raised concerns over inconvenient postings following a recent statewide transfer drive.
