Nitish Kumar cabinet clears 30 proposals, including pension hike, job creation and infra push.

Patna, August 13, 2025: The cabinet of the Nitish Kumar government on Wednesday approved 30 proposals across multiple departments during a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

The Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat announced that the monthly pension for agitators jailed during the JP movement from March 18, 1974, to March 21, 1977, has been doubled.

Pension for detainees jailed between one to six months will rise from Rs 7500 to Rs 15000 per month, while those jailed for six to one year or more will see an increase from Rs 15000 to Rs 30,000.

The Nitish Kumar government has approved 459 new jobs in the minority welfare department:

To strengthen socio-economic and educational development in minority dominated areas, 459 lower division Clerk posts have been created at the block-level Minority Office.

The department, operating independently since 1991, has seen greater responsibilities due to the Prime Minister Jan Vikas Program being implemented state-wide.

The Nitish Kumar government also approved infrastructural and development projects, including Rs 292.74 crore sanctioned to link the Mithapur flyover with the Chiraiyatad flyover via Karbigahya.

Rs 82.90 crore approved to speed up the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor, with six new industrial areas to be developed.

Rs 2.90 crore sanctioned for Obstacle Limitation Surface survey for Greenfield airports in Veerpur, Munger, Saharsa, Valmikinagar, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur.

Expansion of GayaJi airport has also been approved in the cabinet meeting. Under this, 18.2442 acres of land will be acquired, and a CAT-1 lighting system will be installed to allow flights to operate in bad weather and fog.

The Nitish Kumar government has amended Rule 14 of the Bihar Legislative Assembly members’ salary, allowance and pension rules and the salary hike of Booth Level Officers and supervisors.
