New Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off on Patna—Gorakhpur route.

Patna, June 18, 2025: With assembly elections approaching in Bihar, the state is set to receive another major infrastructure gift—a new Vande Bharat Express train.
On June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new 8-coach semi-high-speed train from Siwan via video conferencing, boosting connectivity between Patna and Gorakhpur.
New Route of Vande Bharat Express:
The newly introduced train will originate from Patliputra Junction (Patna) and travel to Gorakhpur, with important halts at Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, Narkatitganj and Kaptanganj.

A stop at Hajipur is also under consideration. This will be the first Vande Bharat Train to provide premium services and high-speed travel to passengers in North Bihar, making it a significant upgrade in regional rail infrastructure.
The train arrives in Patna ahead of launch:
The Vande Bharat train has already arrived in Patna two days prior to the flag-off and is currently stationed at the Rajendra Nagar Coaching Complex.
It is expected to be formally inaugurated at Patliputra Junction on June 20.
The regular operation of the Patna—Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express will commence on June 21, 2025. However, the official schedule, final stoppages, and fare details have not yet been released by Indian Railways.
Trial runs and final route testing are currently underway and have been submitted to the Railway Board for review.
