Patna June 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken the remand of two accused Mukesh Kumar and Chintu for three days in the NEET-UG paper leak case on Wednesday.

A hearing in this regard was held in the special CBI court of Patna where Judicial Magistrate Harshvardhan Singh approved the remand application. The Judicial Magistrate gave this decision after hearing the side of the CBI’s lawyer.

The two alleged examination mafias Mukesh Kumar and Chintu were facing the charges of leaking the question paper on May 5. It appeared during the probe of EOU that Chintu was the one who received the question paper on his mobile phone.

CBI sleuths will interrogate these two accused to get information about how many children were made to memorize the question paper and answers. From where, when and how did they receive the question papers and how many places were the question papers and answers sent? Apart from this, there are many more questions for which CBI will interrogate them to find the answer.

Earlier, the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar police nabbed 6 accused including Chintu from Deoghar. During the investigation, it was revealed that Chintu is also a cyber-criminal. He is the husband of the main accused Sanjeev Mukhiya’s sister. So far, 19 accused have been arrested in this connection.

Police recovered 20 ATM cards, 21 blank cheques and Rs 50,000 in cash from Chintu. The investigation by Patna police also revealed that the question paper and answers were available on Chintu’s mobile phone. He provided the question papers and answers to the candidates to memorize the answers in the Learn Play School of Patna.

NEET examination was conducted for 24 lakh students at 4750 centers in 571 cities on May 5 this year. During the examination, there were allegations of a paper leak in Patna. Chintu absconded as soon as he got the hint of action from the Patna police.
