Neeraj Kumar criticized Tejashwi Yadav over Toddy’s remarks and questioned his stand.

Patna April 28, 2025: JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar on Monday launched a sharp attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, questioning his promise to exclude toddy from the liquor prohibition law if his party comes to power after the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
Neeraj Kumar asked if toddy is an intoxicant drink or Vitamin:
Taking a dig at Tejashwi, Neeraj Kumar asked him to clarify whether toddy is an intoxicating drink or a vitamin.
“Tejashwi Yadav has destroyed the constitution of RJD framed by his father Lalu Prasad Yadav, which stated that no person addicted to intoxicants or alcohol could become a member of the party. Yet, Tejashwi is now encouraging the Pasi community to drink toddy. I want to ask him is toddy an intoxicant or a vitamin?” Kumar said.

His remarks came a day after Tejashwi Yadav, while addressing a gathering of the Pasi community, promised to remove toddy from the purview of the liquor prohibition law, grant it industry status, and withdraw FIRs lodged against toddy businessmen.
Further attacking the RJD leader, Neeraj Kumar said: “Tejashwi Yadav owns a 43 bigha property in Patna, which naturally has palm trees. Even at his 10 Circular Road residence, palm trees are present. I challenge him to drink the toddy extracted from these trees, undergo a medical examination, and inform the public whether it improves calcium, Vitamin, or protein levels in the body or proves its intoxicating effects.”
Nitish Kumar government has given several welfare schemes to the Pasi community:
“Nitish Kumar has provided Rs. 2 lakh per family for alternative employment such as cattle farming and agricultural. So far, 32, 938 families have benefitted. About 71% of those involved in ‘Nira’ (palm nectar) production belong to the Pasi community. We are concerned about their livelihood and upliftment, not about promoting alcohol consumption,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav had earlier assured that if Mahagathbandhan returns to power, toddy would not only be exempted from the promoted as an industry to improve the socio-economic condition of the body workers, mostly belonging to marginalized communities.
