Patna, April 4, 2024: PM Narendra Modi kick-starts the Lok Sabha election campaign in Bihar on Thursday with a sharp attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing him of corruption and land-grabbing in the IRCTC land-for-job case.

Addressing a massive rally in Jamui, PM Modi said that such leaders grabbed land from the poor in exchange for jobs in the railways.

“They have grabbed the lands of poor people to give jobs in the railways. Such people can never do any good. Nitish Kumar was also the railway minister, but there was never a single complaint against him,” Modi said, contrasting the Lalu Prasad Yadav tenure with the government’s infrastructure push.

PM Modi highlighted that under the NDA rule, Vande Bharat Express trains are running across the country and promised to make Bihar’s railway station world-class, comparable to airports.

Attacks Lalu Prasad Yadav-led government:

PM Modi accused the RJD-Congress alliance led by Lalu Prasad Yadav of plugging Bihar into Jungle Raj.

“Everyone knows what kind of identity Bihar had during its rule. There was a dominance of fear. Roads cannot be built in places like Jamui. But now, such situations are eliminated,” he said.

PM Modi alleged that opposition parties have joined hands to protect corruption.

At present, all corrupt people have made an alliance against me. We say ‘Corruption Hatao’ and they say ‘Corruption Bulao,’” he remarked.

He also accused the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD and Congress of trying to stall the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying, “They insulted Karpoori Thakur, while we gave him Bharat Ratna.”

Promises for Bihar’s development:

PM Modi claimed that his government and Nitish Kumar have taken Bihar out of the swamp of underdevelopment.

He said 85 lakh farmers in Bihar benefited under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, 37 lakh houses were built for the poor, and 84 lakh Ayushman Bharat Cards have been issued.

He asserted that the NDA government has delivered just a trailer of development in its first 10 years and vowed to make India a developed nation in the coming decade.

“Your dream is my resolution, and this is the guarantee of Modi,” he said.

PM Modi also remembered late Ram Vilas Paswan, calling him a dear friend and appealed to voters in Jamui to support Arun Bharti, saying, “A vote for him will go to Ram Vilas Paswan’s legacy.”
