Lalu Prasad flies to Kolkata amid a family crisis; Aishwarya Rai accuses the Yadav clan of betrayal.
Patna, May 26, 2025: In a dramatic turn of political and personal events, RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, accompanied by his wife Rabri Devi and elder daughter Misa Bharti, flew to Kolkata on Monday evening.
The family reached Patna airport earlier in the evening before boarding their flight.
Their visit is to meet younger daughter-in-law Rajshree Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav’s newborn daughter, Katyayani. Tejashwi had already arrived in Kolkata ahead of them.
The Yadav family trip comes just days after Lalu Prasad expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from both the RJD and the family for six years, following revelations of Tej Pratap’s alleged long-term relationship outside of his marriage.
Misa Bharti: “Lalu Prasad has made his stand clear”:
When media persons asked at Patna airport, RJD Misa Bharti declined to elaborate on the controversy.
She reiterated that Lalu Prasad as the party’s national president and family patriarch has already made the party’s stance clear.
“Apart from that, we have nothing more to say. Since the matter is sub judice, it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment further,” she told reporters.
This has once again brought the spotlight on Aishwarya Rai, Tej Pratap’s estranged wife, who has made fresh allegations against the entire Yadav household.
Aishwarya Rai’s outburst on Lalu Prasad: “Where is there social justice now”:
Speaking to the media, Aishwarya Rai granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, lashed out at Lalu, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly destroying her life.
“Where they knew Tej Pratap was in a 12-year relationship, why did they get him married to me in 2018? Why was I kept in the dark and subjected to humiliation? Where was their social justice then?” she asked.
Rai, who is currently fighting a divorce case in court, claimed that the Yadav family is pretending to have expelled Tej Pratap in a politically motivated move ahead of the elections in Bihar.
“Even yesterday, Rabri Devi must have gone to her son, wiped his tears, and promised to fix everything. This expulsion is just drama. They are all together in this,” she added.
She also alleged that she was subjected to domestic violence while staying with Tej Pratap and Rabri Devi and was later thrown out of the house with baseless accusations.
“It’s always easy to tarnish a woman’s image to save their own son. But now, they will have to answer in court,” Rai said.
“What will happen to me? If social justice is truly their principle, they must show it in action not in theatres,” Rai said.
Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai were married in May 2018, but their relationship quickly deteriorated, leading to a public and legal battle.
The situation escalated after Tej Pratap allegedly admitted in a social media post that he had been in a relationship with another woman, Anushka Yadav, for the past 12 years.
This revelation triggered Lalu Prasad Yadav’s decision to expel Tej Pratap from the RJD and publicly distance the family from him a move many, including Aishwarya Rai, have dismissed as political posturing.
