Patna: JD-U legislator Bima Bharti resigned from the primary membership of the party. After the resignation, she joined RJD on Saturday.
Bima Bharti was miffed with JD-U top leadership after the party had given the cabinet minister post to her rival Leshi Singh. She was one of the MLAs of JD-U who did not reach during the no confidence motion, brought by the NDA government against then speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary on February 12, 2024.
Bima Bharti, a MLA of Rupauli in Purnea district, wrote a letter to the party’s national president dated March 22, 2024 and mentioned that she is giving the resignation from the primary membership of the party. Please accept it.
Bima Bharti was in contact with RJD leaders in the past and she may get the ticket of the party from the Purnea Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 election. This could be a big jolt to Bahubali leader Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav who was wishing to contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea in 2024. Pappu Yadav recently merged his party called Jan Adhikar Party in Congress with an aim to get the ticket of the grand old party from Purnea.
Bima Bharti was elected on the JD-U ticket from Rupauli assembly constituency in Purnea district in 2020. She is said to be a strong leader in the Seemanchal region especially in Purnea. She belongs to the Extremely Backward Caste community and has a good hold over it.
Besides Bima Bharti, two more leaders Dr Faraz Fatmi, the former MLA from Keoti assembly constituency in Darbhanga district and Ram Niwas Prasad the former MLA of Jale assembly constituency also resigned from the primary membership of JD-U.
Dr Faraz Fatmi’s father Mohammad Ali Ashraf Fatmi had also given the resignation from all posts of the party on March 19. He is expecting a RJD ticket to contest Lok Sabha election from Darbhanga.
