Jan Suraj reveals candidates for Belaganj and Imamganj by-poll.

Patna October 19, 2024: Ahead of the assembly by-poll in Belaganj and Imamganj, Jan Suraj Party has announced its candidates on Saturday. Professor Khilafat Hussain, a respected academic figure will contest from Belaganj, while Dr Jitendra Paswan, a renowned pediatrician, will contest from Imamganj.

Jan Suraj candidates have strong educational backgrounds:

Professor Khilafat Hussain, a prominent mathematician, served as the Head of Department at Mirza Ghalib College, Gaya, from 2002 to 2017 and was a lecturer at the same institution from 1976 to 2002. His family is also deeply involved in education—his daughter-in-law, Habiba Bint Mansoor, works in the college’s zoology department, and his son, Muzaffar Ahmed Arman, is a professor of Persian language.

In Imamganj, the Jan Suraj party has chosen Dr Jitendra Paswan, a highly respected paediatrician known for his low consultancy fees and his success rate.

Dr Paswan gained considerable recognition for his free medical services during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Sherghati subdivision and has also served as a representative of a Mukhiya. His reputation for community service makes him a strong candidate in the region .

Prashant Kishor emphasized the quality of his party’s candidates, stating, “People say good candidates are not coming into politics. Look at the candidates of the Jan Suraj Party. They are highly respected, well-educated in their fields, and have strong recognition in their respective regions.” Kishor also mentioned that the party has nominated Lt. general Shri Krishna Singh to contest the by-election from the Tarari constituency, further highlighting the party’s focus on experienced and qualified candidates.

Jan Suraj tactically selected candidates for by-poll:

Jan Suraj Party has tactically selected candidates for these crucial seats. Belaganj has long been a Yadav stronghold, with Surendra Prasad Yadav winning seven times before resigning after being elected as an MP from Jehanabad. Recognizing the importance of the Muslim-Yadav (MY) vote bank, Prashant Kishor fielded a Muslim candidate, Professor Khilafat Hussain, aiming to disrupt this traditional alliance that forms the core of the RJD’s voter base.

This strategic approach by Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party focused on highly respected, educated candidates, aims to challenge the traditional power structures and offer an alternative in these crucial constituencies.

In Imamganj, a known stronghold of Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAMS), the by-election is shaping up to be a significant contest. It is widely expected that a member of the Manjh family will contest the election on behalf of the NDA, following Jitan Ram Manjhi’s resignation from the MLA post after his victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the reserved Gaya seat.

Prashant Kishor, aware that the NDA will likely field a Mahadalit candidate from HAMS, has strategically chosen De. Jitendra Paswan, a respected Dalit paediatrician, is the Jan Suraj Party’s candidate. By nominating Paswan, Kishor aims to directly challenge the NDA’s likely candidate, creating a contest between two Dalit leaders. Dr. Paswan’s reputation for community service, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his medical background make him a formidable opponent in this constituency.

This move is part of a broader strategy by Prashant Kishor to challenge established political equations in Bihar, offering respected, community-rooted candidates as alternatives to entrenched political families and traditional vote banks. By fielding Dr. Paswan in Imamganj, Kishor is directly targeting the Mahadalit vote, which is critical for the NDA’s success in the region, hoping to sway voters with Paswan’s proven public service and credibility.

This tactical manoeuvring reflects Kishor’s deep understanding of Bihar’s electoral dynamics and his bid to challenge establish parties like RJD, JD(U), BJP, Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular and left parties in Bihar.
