Good news for RLJP, Patna High Court granted 14 days to vacate the bungalow.

Patna October 30, 2024: The Patna High Court has granted a 14-day extension to the Rashtriya Lok Jan Sabha Party (RLJP), led by Pashupati Kumar Paras, to vacate the bungalow at 1 Wheeler Road, now setting the deadline for November 13.

Initially, the Bihar government’s Building Construction Department had instructed Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party to vacate by October 30, as the bungalow has been reallocated to Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV).

RLJP filed a plea against the Building Construction Department:

Rastriya Lok Janshakti Party’s state vice president, Ambika Prasad, sought a stay on the eviction, but during the proceeding, Rashtriya Lokj Janshakti Party’s legal counsel Y.V. Giri chose to withdraw the case, as it was unlikely to succeed.

Representing the state, Solicitor General P.K. Shahi argued that RLJP had no rightful claim to the bungalow, as it was originally allotted to the LJP in 2006.

Justice Mohit Kumar Shah, while granting the 14-day extension for Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party to vacate, stated that RLJP may apply for a different bungalow for use as a party office if desired. The Bihar Building Constriction

Department had first issued its seven-day eviction order to Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party on October 24.

The Bungalow was initially allotted to LJP and not RLJP:

This bungalow, situated at 1 Wheeler Road, was originally allocated to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in 2006.

Following the party’s split in 2021, Pashupati Kumar Paras, leader of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), claimed the residence, asserting that five MPs supported his faction. RLJP subsequently became part of the alliance in the Modi government’s second tenure.

However, recent political shifts, particularly the 2024 Lok Sabha election, impacted this arrangement. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allotted five seats to Chirag Paswan’s faction, the Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV), all of which were successfully won by the party.

LJPRV, now an alliance partner with BJP in the Modi government, also saw Chirag Paswan appointed as a Union Minister, adding further legitimacy to his faction over the RLJP in political terms.
