Four persons of a family died while crossing the railway track in Bihar’s Siwan.

Patna: Four persons including two children of a family died after they came under the impact of a speeding train in Bihar’s Siwan district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at Laxmipur village under Murhari Panchayat near Mairwa railway station on Siwan-Gorakhpur rail section.

Following the accident, a large number of villagers assembled at the place and protested against the railway officials. They have demanded adequate compensation to the family members of the victims. They have also blocked the adjoining roads. Officials of GRP, RPF and railway reached the spot and sent the dead bodies for the postmortem.

“The victims went to the agricultural field for farming. While returning, the children were crossing the track and at the same time a speeding train came on it. The two women named Sunita Devi and her Neetu Devi tried to save their children, but came under the impact of the train. All four persons including 2 children died on the spot,” said Ajay Bhaskar, Mukhiya (Village Head) of Murhari Panchayat.

“The deceased were residents of Laxmipur village which is located right on the edge of the railway track. They have farming land on both sides of the track,” Bhaskar said.
