Patna July 9: The polling for the Rupauli assembly by-election is set to begin at 7 am on Wednesday, with a total of 11 candidates vying for the seat.
Among 11 candidates, one of them is female candidate Bima Bharti. She is a sitting MLA from this seat. She resigned from the post of MLA to contest the Lok Sabha election.
The main competition is expected to be between Bima Bharti (RJD), Kaladhar Mandal (JD(U)), and Shankar Singh (Independent).
This by-election will be closely watched as it reflects the political dynamics in the Rupauli assembly constituency and the strength of the major parties and independent candidates.
According to the official data released by the election commission, a total of 3 lakh, 13 thousand 664 voters will decide the fate of 11 candidates. Among them, 1 lakh, 61 thousand 712 male, 1 lakh 51 thousand 936 female and 16 transgender voters are in this constituency.
The first-time voters in the age group of 18 to 19 are 3951 including 1721 female and remaining male voters.
Interestingly 59 voters are as such having age are above 100. Among them, 25 are male and 34 are female voters.
The total service electors are 242 including 13 females while PwD voters are 3055 including 1109 female voters.
The official further said that 321 polling stations are established in 164 locations where the voters can use their electoral rights. Among them, 291 are in rural areas and 30 polling stations in urban areas.
