Patna, December 31, 2025: The demand within JDU to bring Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, into active politics and hand over the reins of the party has been steadily intensifying within the party.

The issue once again came into focus after a poster advocating Nishant Kumar’s political entry surfaced outside the JDU office in Patna.

The poster was put up by Krishna Patel, vice president of the JDU student wing.

It features photographs of the Chief Minister on one side and Nishant Kumar on the other, accompanied by a Hindi slogan that reads, “Chacha Ji Ke Haathon Mein, Surakshit Aprna Bihar… Ab Party Ke Agle Generation Ke Bhavishya Saware Bhai Nishant Kumar.Nare Saal Aur Makar Sankranti ki Subhkamnaye.”

Post-election demand intensifies within JDU:

Over the past few months, particularly after the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, voices within the JDU have grown louder, urging the leadership to induct Nishant Kumar into active politics and gradually hand over organizational responsibility to him.

On Sunday, workers of Mukund Sena, an organization affiliated with the JDU, launched a 12-hour hunger strike at the Gardanibagh protest site in Patna to press their demand.

The protestors said they want Nishant Kumar to enter politics at any cost.

The protestors claimed that Nishant Kumar is well-educated, capable, and possesses the potential to give a new direction to the party.

According to them, his leadership would strengthen the JDU and also prepare him to lead Bihar in the future.

Referring to Chief Minister Nistih Kumar as their guardian, the Mukund Sena members appealed to him to assign an active political role to his son.

They warned that if their demand is not met after the 12-hour hunger strike, they will escalate to protest by launching a 24-hour hunger strike in the next phase.

They further announced that the next round of protest would be held at JP Golamber, beneath the statue of Jayaprakash Narayan, asserting that party workers are united and the movement to bring Nishant Kumar into politics will continue.

Support from other parties:

Interestingly, the demand is not limited to JDU circles alone. Leaders from other political parties have also voiced support for Nishant Kumar’s political entry.

Deepak Prakash, Panchayati Raj Minister and son of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha, expressed a similar view, advocating for the entry of the next generation of leadership within the JDU.

Likewise, RJD MLA Bogo Singh also echoed support for Nishant Kumar’s participation in active politics.

While Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has consistently maintained a distance from dynastic politics in public sentiment, the growing pressure from party workers and even opposition leaders has added a new dimension to Bihar’s political discourse.

Whether Nishant Kumar will step into active politics remains uncertain, but the sustained campaign has clearly made the issue politically significant.
