BJP MP Ajay Nishad resigned from the party and joined Congress.

Patna: BJP got a big jolt in Bihar after Ajay Nishad, the MP from Muzaffarpur, resigned from the primary membership and all posts of the saffron party on Tuesday.

After the resignation, Nishad also joined the Congress in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the occasion, Congress leaders including Pawan Khera and party state president of Bihar Akhilesh Singh present there.

While uploading a post on social media platform X, Nishad said: “Respected @JPNadda Ji, shocked by the betrayal of @BJP4India, I resign from all posts and primary membership of the party.”

Ajay Nishad is expected to contest the Lok Sabha election from Muzaffarpur in Bihar. Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha constituency has a large vote bank of Nishad (Fisherman) community and Ajay Nishad has a good stronghold over them in the region. Of late, he was challenged by VIP leader Mukesh Sahani.

Ajay Nishad won the Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha seat on the ticket of BJP in 2019. This time BJP has given the ticket to Raj Bhushan Nishad in place of him. Hence he has resigned from the party. Besides him, BJP did not give the ticket to Ashwini Kumar Choubey to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 from Buxar.

The polling in Muzaffarpur will take place in the fifth phase on May 20 and candidates can file nominations from April 26 this year.
