Patna, April 11, 2025: The Bihar government is rolling out ambitious initiatives to boost the state’s tourism potential and improve rural connectivity.

On Friday, Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh announced a series of new projects and incentives aimed at attracting investment and transforming Bihar into a vibrant tourist destination.

Bihar government investment pushes in tourism sector:

Speaking to the media, Minister Raju Singh emphasized that the government is committed to encouraging private investment in the tourism.

“The Bihar government has decided that two-star to four-star hotels will be developed at key tourist sites under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Financial assistance will also be provided to those investing in these projects, “he said.

Singh also highlighted the progress on major religious and heritage circuits like the Ramayana Circuit.

These circuits are seeing rapid development, with land acquisition underway, including 50 acres at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi. Additionally, ropeways are being constructed at four tourist locations two in Jehanabad and two in Rohtas to enhance accessibility.

Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, BSTDC MD Nand Kishore, Deputy Secretary Indu Kumari, and GM Chandan detailed various reforms and incentives under the revised tourism policy.

“We have created a policy that promotes infrastructure, ensures inclusive development, and attracts sustainable investment, “said Lokesh Kumar Singh.

700 new rural bridges to be built under Mukhiya Mantri Gramin Setu Yojana:

In parallel, the state is taking bold steps to connect its villages with urban centers through the Mukhuyamantri Gramin Setu Yojna, a flagship project of CM Nitish Kumar.

Under this scheme, 700 bridges will be constructed during the 2025-26 financial year and Rs 3,000 crore will be spent to provide safe and permanent connectivity to rural areas.

Under this initiative, bridges will replace dilapidated structures, connect incomplete roads, and rebuild flood-damaged bridges and approach roads for existing but unused bridges will also be developed,” an official of the Rural Work Department said.

This initiative was launched in September 2024 and 14 bridges received administrative approval at an estimated cost of Rs 117.64 crore.

The scheme stands out for its public involvement proposals received during the ‘Janta Darbar’ and announcements made by the CM are directly integrated.

“This is not just about bridges it’s about empowering rural Bihar. Farmers will get access to markets, children to schools, and everyone to emergency services,” a government spokesperson noted.

Together, these initiatives reflect the Bihar government’s strategic focus on economic development, employment generation, and inclusive growth, aiming to position the state as both an investment hub and a traveler’s destination.
