Bibhav’s father, Maheshwar Rai, claimed his son is innocent.

Patna, May 18, 2024: Following the arrest of Bibhav Kumar, the Personal Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in connection with the alleged assault and misbehavior with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, his father, Maheshwar Rai, has defended his son, claiming that he is innocent and being falsely implicated.

Swati Maliwal leveled an allegation against Bibhav Kumar:

Rai, a retired constable from the Bihar Military Police (BMP), said that Maliwal has leveled “baseless allegations” against his son with malicious intent.

“After the incident, I spoke to my son over the phone. He told me that Swati Maliwal unnecessarily created an issue. When she arrived at the Chief Minister’s residence, my son only asked her to wait for some time before meeting the CM. He did nothing wrong,” Rai told reporters in Rohtas district on Saturday.

Bibhav Kumar hails from Kudra village under Kochas block in Rohtas. Villagers described him as well-behaved and said his family maintains cordial relations in the area, though Bibhav has not visited the village for several years.

Rai said that after completing his studies at Banaras Hindu University, Bibhav moved to Delhi to study journalism, where he came into contact with Arvind Kejriwal following the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. He was appointed as the Chief Minister’s personal secretary.

Swati Maliwal assaulted by Bibhav Kumar:

According to the FIR lodged by Swati Maliwal, Bibhav Kumar allegedly assaulted her at the Chief Minister’s residence when she had gone to meet Kejriwal. Two videos related to the incident have surfaced so far.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that the BJP is using Maliwal as a “pawn’ to target the Delhi Chief Minister and his close aids.
