New York June 12: After the early wicket of Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma, T20 specialist Surya Kumar Yadav steadied the ship with middle-order batsman Shivam Dubey and defeated USA by seven wickets in the World Cup match in Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday.


With this, India is the first team in Group A to reach in top eight of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Surya Kumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 50 runs in 49 deliveries. He made the partnership with Rishabh Pant first and then an unbeaten partnership with Shivam Dubey of 67 runs of 67 balls and won the match for Team India in 18.2 overs.

Virat Kohli lost his wicket on the first ball caught behind the wicket. Rohit Sharma is also out cheaply.

For the USA, Nitish Kumar was the top scorer of the side. He scored 27 runs in 23 deliveries. Stevan Taylor scored 24 runs in 30 balls and Corey Anderson 15 runs in 12 balls.

For India, Surya Kumar Yadav was the top scorer. He played an unbeaten knock of 50 runs in 49 deliveries. Shivam Dubey made 31 runs in 35 deliveries and Rishabh Pant scored 18 runs in 20 balls.

The most successful bowler of the USA team was Saurabh Netravalkar who took 2 wickets costing 18 runs in 4 overs, Ali Khan 1 wicket for 21 runs in 3.2 overs and Corey Anderson none of 17 in 3 overs.

The stand-out performer of the India side was Asrhdeep Singh. He took 4 wickets of just 9 runs in 4 overs, Hardik Pandya 2 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs and Axar Patel 1 wicket of 25 runs in 3 overs.
