Patna, April 22, 2024: With campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar at its peak, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi stirred controversy on Sunday with a personal remark against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav during his rally in Kishanganj, a key constituency in the Muslim-dominant Seemanchal region.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s jibe at Tejashwi Yadav:
When asked about Tejashwi Yadav frequently referring to him in election rallies, Owaisi quipped, “He cannot live without groom brother (Dulhe Bhai).”
The unusual remark quickly went viral, with political observers terming it a provocative and personal attack, likely to intensify the already charged political atmosphere in Bihar.
Attack on NDA and Grand Alliance:
Asaduddin Owaisi accused both the Congress-RJD combine and the NDA of neglecting the Seemanchal region.
“When Congress and RJD were in power, they did nothing for Seemanchal’s development. NDA too failed during its tenure,” he said, positioning AIMIM as the alternative voice for Seemanchal aspirations.
Continuing his sharp rhetoric, Asaduddin Owaisi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“PM Modi calls Muslims infiltrators in Seemanchal. What has he done for this region in 10 years? Was he sleeping?” he asked
“Since 2002, Modi’s only guarantee is to abuse Muslims and polarize voters. In his government, billionaire friends of Modi have the first rights on the nation’s assets. Just 1% people have captured 40% of India’s wealth, while common Hindus are being made to fear Muslims,” he said.
Asaduddin Owaisi is on a four-day campaign tour of Seemanchal to boost his party’s candidate, Akhtarul Iman, in Kishanganj.
His remarks are seen as an attempt to consolidate Muslim voters, while also attacking both the Grand Alliance (RJD-Congress) and the NDA (BJP-JDU-LJP) to carve out space for AIMIM in Bihar politics.
However, the Dulhe Bhai jibe at Tejashwi may trigger backlash as personal remarks often spiral into heated exchanges between rival parties.
