Patna, April 10, 2024: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday asserted that just as his father Lalu Prasad Yadav had stopped Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra in 1990, he would now halt Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vijay Rath” (winning cart) in Bihar.
Addressing an election rally in Rafiganj block of Aurangabad district, Tejashwi launched a sharp attack on the BJP and its allies, accusing them of deceit and opportunism.
Amit Shah once said that the doors of the BJP were closed for Nitish Kumar. Now those doors have been opened, and they have joined hands again. So, we need to stay away from such people,” Tejashwi said, taking a swipe at the Chief Minister and the BJP.
Tejashwi Yadav pointed out Lalu Prasad Yadav’s action against LK Advani:
He continued, “Lalu Prasad Yadav stopped the Rath of Lal Krishna Advani, and I will stop the Vijay Rath of Narendra Modi. PM Modi and Amit Shah will come here to lure voters, but the BJP is a party of lies and jumlebazi (empty promises).”
Tejashwi, accompanied by Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani, was campaigning for RJD candidate Abhay Kushwaha, who is contesting from Rafiganj. Kushwaha, a former JD(U) leader, recently joined the RJD.
“Abhay Kushwaha has returned to his old home,” Tejashwi said. “My uncle (Nitish Kumar) has changed sides once again. I still respect him as a guardian. I had promised to provide 10 lakh jobs to the youth of Bihar and, in 17 months, 5 lakh jobs were given.”
Framing the Assembly election as a referendum on key issues, Tejashwi added, “This election will decide whether unemployment and inflation will remain or end. I have not come here as a leader but as your son and brother—bless me as you would your own.”
Mukesh Sahani pointed out Lalu Prasad Yadav’s contribution to the Nishad community:
Addressing the gathering, Mukesh Sahani appealed for community-wide support for the RJD candidate, saying, “Lalu Prasad Yadav gave great respect to the Nishad (fishermen) community in Bihar. I urge people of all castes to vote for Abhay Kushwaha.”
