Election commission allotted poll symbol scissors to Pappu Yadav.

Patna: The election commission allotted scissors as an election symbol to Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Monday. Such a development took place after Yadav did not withdraw his nomination for the Purnea Lok Sabha seat.
Pappu Yadav filed the nomination as an independent candidate to contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea on April 4 and today (April 8) was the last date of the withdrawal of the nomination.
“This election symbol will build the future of Purnea. My motive is to bring Purnea out from the backwardness. I have set a goal for myself to provide employment to 10000 families in the next 5 years,” Yadav said.
Pappu Yadav had merged his party named Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) in Congress on March 20 with the aim to get the ticket to contest Purnea. As the Purnea seat went to RJD after the seat sharing, Pappu Yadav filed the nomination as an independent candidate.
Following the development, the contest of Purnea turned triangular here. Bima Bharti is a candidate of grand alliance while Santosh Kushwaha is contesting as a NDA candidate on Purnea seat. Now, Pappu Yadav is in poll fray of Purnea and he has made the contest interesting here. The polling on Purnea seat will take place on April 26.
Earlier, Congress had applied pressure on Pappu Yadav to not to contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea. Congress state president Akhilesh Singh, a few days ago said that the party would wait till the last withdrawal date and then take action against him.
