Patna, August 12, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary visited Gopalganj for the first time since assuming office on Wednesday, combining a visit to the famous Thawe Bhawani temple with an inspection of land identified for a proposed medical college.
The Chief Minister arrived at Thawe by helicopter and first visited the Thawe Bhawani Temple, where he performed prayers and rituals and sought the happiness and prosperity of the people of Bihar.
Elaborate security arrangements were made at the temple ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit. Bihar government ministers Ashok Choudhary, Sunil Kumar and Mithilesh Tiwari were among the senior leaders and officials present during the prayers.
After offering prayers, Samrat Choudhary travelled by road to Chanave village to inspect the site identified for the proposed medical college.
CM Samrat Choudhary reviews medical college site:
At Chanave, District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh briefed the Chief Minister about the proposed project and presented maps and other details related to the site.
The Chief Minister sought information from officials regarding the project and examined various aspects of the proposed medical college, including the land earmarked for its construction.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and DGP Vinay Kumar, were present during the inspection.
The visit assumes significance as the proposed medical college is considered an important healthcare project for Gopalganj and the surrounding region. The Chief Minister’s on-site assessment provided an opportunity to review the land and the progress of preparations for the project.
Attended a memorial program:
After completing the inspection, Samrat Choudhary travelled to Manikpur village in the Sadar block, where he attended a memorial program at the residence of a High Court advocate.
During the program, he also met Sadar MLA Subhash Singh and interacted with him.
Tight security along route:
Extensive security arrangements were put in place along the route from Gopalganj town to Thawe and Chanave in view of the Chief Minister’s visit.
A large number of people gathered along the roads to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister’s convoy.
After the temple visit, District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh and Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari presented Samrat Choudhary with a picture of the Thawe Temple.
The Chief Minister spent around one and a half hours in Gopalganj. His visit began with prayers at Thawe Bhawani Temple, followed by an inspection of the proposed medical college site and a visit to the memorial program in Manikpur.
He subsequently left Gopalganj for Patna by helicopter.
