Patna, May 21, 2026: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to significantly reduce the country’s dependence on fertilizers and fuel, Bihar Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha visited Bengaluru on Thursday to explore advanced organic farming technologies and sustainable agricultural practices.

During the visit, the minister held discussions with scientists and experts from Shri Shri Agriculture Trust regarding organic fertilizers and organic DAP products developed and patented by the organization through research initiatives.

Vijay Kumar Sinha emphasized organic alternatives:

According to an official, detailed deliberations were held on the production capacity, effectiveness, and long-term benefits of organic fertilizers as alternatives to conventional chemical fertilizers.

Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that the organic products developed by the Trust could prove highly beneficial for farmers in Bihar and may emerge as an effective substitute for chemical-based fertilizers.

Expressing concern about the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers, Vijay Kumar Sinha said excessive dependence on such inputs was adversely affecting human health, soil fertility, and the environment.

“If we want to provide a safe, healthy, and prosperous future for the coming generation, we must adopt organic and natural farming practices,” he said.

He further emphasized that the Bihar government is committed to promoting organic farming under the state’s Agriculture Road Map initiative and believes that research-driven organic technologies can strengthen Bihar’s agricultural transformation.

Meeting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

During the visit, Vijay Kumar Sinha also attended a special ceremony organized to mark 45 years of the Art of Living Foundation and the 70th birthday celebrations of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

At the event, Vijay Kumar Sinha met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and received his guidance and blessings.

Participation of senior political leaders:

The program was attended by several prominent political leaders from across the country, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, along with ministers from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.

Participants discussed the need for sustainable agricultural practices and the long-term advantages of organic alternatives in farming.
