Chandigarh, April 18, 2026:

In a significant push toward digital governance, Ashim Kumar Ghosh successfully completed his self-enumeration for Census 2027 through the official online portal at Lok Bhavan, setting an example for citizens across the region.

Lady Governor Mitra Ghosh was also present during the process, underscoring the importance of public participation in this national exercise.

The initiative highlights the administration’s commitment to making the census process more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly through the use of technology.

Senior officials, including Navjot Khosa and Nishant Kumar Yadav, assisted the Governor during the self-enumeration process.

By completing the process himself, Ashim Kumar Ghosh encouraged citizens to actively adopt this simple, secure, and time-saving digital facility, which allows individuals to fill in their census details online at their convenience.

During the exercise, the Governor emphasized that accurate and reliable data is crucial for effective policy-making, development planning and efficient delivery of public services.

He urged citizens to cooperate fully and make maximum use of the self-enumeration facility.

Citizen-friendly arrangement:

The Directorate of Census Operations Chandigarh, in coordination with the local administration, has put in place comprehensive arrangements to ensure smooth implementation: A dedicated toll-free helpline (1855/18001803821) for assistance, and a user-friendly online portal for easy access and technical support for resolving queries and issues.

Citizens can complete their self-enumeration by visiting the official census portal and submitting their details within the stipulated timeline.

Data security and confidentiality:

Authorities have assured that all information collected will remain strictly confidential and will be used solely for statistical purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the Census Act.

Ashim Kumar Ghosh’s participation marks an important milestone in the rollout of Census 2027, reinforcing the government’s focus on digital transformation and citizen engagement in large-scale national initiatives.
