Seat sharing formula is not finalizing between RJD and Congress in Bihar.

Patna: RJD is the most trusted alliance partner of Congress in the country but the seat sharing formula between them is not finalizing between them in the Lok Sabha election 2024 in Bihar.

So far, RJD has ignored Congress party and given the tickets to six candidates to contest the election. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is an incharge of ticket distribution in INDIA bloc in Bihar, has finalized many names. Due to the tough stand of RJD, the Congress party is looking helpless in Bihar.

“Officially, I cannot say anything but the Congress party is demanding a higher number of seats in Bihar. Moreover, its leaders are not explaining the details of the candidates. Without discussing the profiles of candidates, how seat sharing could be possible. There is no dispute between RJD and Congress. Our party national president Lalu Prasad Yadav is in Delhi and negotiations with the top leadership of the Congress party will take place soon,” said Shivanand Tiwari, the national vice president of RJD.

Sources have said that Congress is demanding 10 seats such as Purnea, Aurangabad, Buxar, Sasaram, Kishanganj, Supaul, Darbhanga, Katihar, Patna Sahib and Begusarai  in Bihar and this has led to dispute between it and the RJD. RJD does not want to repeat his mistake that he did in the 2020 assembly election and had given 70 seats in Bihar. In that election, the Congress party performed miserably and lost 51 seats in that election.

As 23 days left for the first phase of polling, RJD has given the ticket to its candidate Abhay Kushwaha to contest the election from Aurangabad. Sources have said that the party has also given the ticket to Bima Bharti to contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea.

Pappu Yadav, the Bahubali leader and 4 times MP has also claimed to contest from Purnea. Pappu Yadav merged his party called Jan Adhikar Party in Congress on March 20 with the aim to contest from Purnea on the ticket of the party.

“I would rather die but not leave Congress and Purnea. I will contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea at any cost,” Pappu Yadav said.

Earlier, Nikhil Kumar, the former governor of Kerala and Congress leader also claimed to contest from Aurangabad seat.

“Taking one sided decisions is demoralizing for our party’s workers. RJD should respect the interest of alliance partners,” said Ashitnath Tiwari, spokesperson of Congress Bihar unit.
